Global hotel chain Hilton has acquired Ubumwe Grand Hotel after a dispute between the developers and Zinc Hotels, saw the property trade under a traditional name.
According to Hilton Hotels, Grande Ubumwe will undergo some changes in order to rebrand and will be their first property in Rwanda
Hilton will operate the hotel under its Doubletree brand which will enable it to gain a foothold to compete against other global hotel brands such as Rezidor’s Radisson Blu and Park Inn and The Marriott, among others.
Hilton currently operates 19 hotels in the Sub Saharan Africa region with a further 29 in its pipeline. It has held a presence on the African continent for over 50 years.
